Most Popular Bidah(innovation) in our society:
Topic:::"Reading Quran for the Dead(Deceased Person)"
"All narrations allowing reciting Al-Qur'an for the dead are weak & fabricated. "
Can we recite Quran in behalf of a death person?
Ans: It is Not permissible to recite Quran on behalf of the deceased.
Assalamualaikum Brothers and Sisters,
Praise be to Allaah,
We hear on a daily basis that someone from amongst our relatives or friends have passed away(may Allah forgive them all) and after the death of an individual it is common that their family members organise to read quran on behalf of that person, as to give them the reward of whatever is performed.
With regard to reading Qur‘aan, there is some difference of opinion among the scholars as to whether the reward from that will reach the deceased. According to the more correct of the two opinions, it does not reach them, because there is no evidence to that effect, and because the Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) did not do that for the Muslims who died, such as his daughters who died during his lifetime, neither did the Sahaabah (may Allaah be pleased with them all) did not do that either, as far as we know.
So it is better for the believer not to do that and not to read Qur‘aan for either the dead or the living, or to offer salaah or fast voluntarily on their behalf, because there is no evidence for any of these things. The basic principle regarding acts of worship is to refrain from everything except that which is proven to be enjoined by Allaah or by His Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him).
The situation is same everywhere these days people simply don't listen. Even if you give them Ayah from Quran or even Hadith. what their peer or wali said is the last word for them ,its not an easy task but a person can try to challenge them on this behalf ,but in order to do that the person try to clear the things in the first place should be knowledgeable. If a person has some knowledge of the religion he can gather all the info on this matter and collect also what they present that are weak hadith etc and refute them but it may not be as easy as said ,the only thing which always works is ask Allah to give our brother and sisters guidance.
Ameen
Almighty Allah (swt) states in the Noble QurĂ£n,:
"'O` you who believe! Obey Allah and His messenger"'
There is no indication in either the Qur’aan or the Sunnah that would prescribe the actions..There is no confirmation for this in sunnah, rather it is a despised innovation.
Al-Qur'an was sent as a reminder to the living, not to grieve over the dead.
Allah states that every person will be accountable for his own deeds; whether good, or bad.
Those who say that the dead benefit from hearing the Quran and are rewarded on iit are wrong,Because
The messenger of Allah said: “When a man dies, all his deeds come to a halt apart from three: ongoing charity (sadaqah jaariyah), beneficial knowledge or a righteous child who will pray for him.” (Al-Tirmidhi,hasan)
Based on this fact, these actions are bid‘ah ( innovation) which is not permitted;
we should avoid it and warn others not to do it.
The Messenger of Allaah (S) said : "The truest of speech is the Book of Allaah, the best guidance is that of Muhammad and the worst of things are those which are newly invented. Every newly-invented thing is a bid‘ah, every bid‘ah is a going astray, and every going astray will end in the Fire of Hell." (Reported by al-Nisaa’i, may Allaah have mercy on him, in al-Sunan, Kitaab salaat al-‘eidayn, no. 1560).
The Hadeeth related by Abu Dawood "Recite Yasin on your deceased" was declared weak (dhaeef) by Abu Dawood himself, and Ibn Taymiyya held the same opinion..
Bid'ah is the cause of Fitnah or severe punishment for this Ummah -
As Allah says: "For those people who are differing from the commands of Prophet, there will come to them either a Fitnah (test or trial from Allah) or a severe punishment." [Noble Quran 24:63]
There are 2 categories of those deeds which can be done on behalf of the deceased. The first category is the conveying of the reward of charitable deeds such as building a masjid or digging a well on behalf of the mayit, this is called ibaadat e maaliyah.
The second category is conveying of the reward of physical deeds that do not entail wealth, e.g. Salaat, fasting, Dhikr, recitation of the holy Quran, Tawaaf of the Ka’abah etc on behalf of the mayit, this is called ibaadat e badaniyyah. The first form is unanimously acceptable by all of the 4 imams of fiqh and the second form is accepted as correct and jaaiz by Imam Abu Hanafi and Imam Ahmed ibn Hanbal.
Ibn Taymmya... said,
"Reciting quran with an intention to reach its reward to a deceased person is fine but it has not been practiced by Allah's Messenger or his companions, therefore it is best not to do it"
Allah Subhanah revealed the Holy Quran as a Book of Guidance for all of mankind, to show and teach the believers the Way of Life which was acceptable and pleasing to Him. If one recites the Holy Quran, he has been promised ‘ajr’ or reward from Allah Subhanah; but this ‘ajr’ or reward is not something that Allah has given the reciter control of its disposition, whereby he can choose to pass it on to anyone of his choice! The person who reads and studies the Quran will get the ‘ajr’, and it is not permissible nor possible to ‘transfer’ this ajr or reward to someone else of our choice.
Next time someone tries to tell you these types of ‘transfer’ of rewards are possible, please ask them if it is also possible to ‘transfer’ the sin one commits to someone else! If that was possible, one could eat, drink and do the haraam, and transfer the evil deeds to anyone of his choice. But the just law of Allah states that every person will be accountable for his own deeds; whether good, or bad. If a person does good, he will have the reward for it; and if he does evil, he will have to bear the punishment for that evil. No bearer of burden will bear the burden of another…. That is one of the principles of Islam.
It is permissible to pray for the deceased, without arranging a formal gathering, and without setting a specific date for doing so. We ask Allaah to help us and you to do that which He loves and which will please Him.
Allaah knows best
